Earth Mama Comes to Dubuque
The Sisters of Charity, BVM in conjunction with the Tri-State Area Women Religious Congregations present Love Our Mama Earth, Songs and Stories with Earth Mama, August 6th and 7th in Dubuque, Iowa.
Earth Mama Joyce Johnson Rouse, an Iowa native, was born on a farm near Cresco. From a young age she felt connected to Mother Earth. Joyce participated in a variety of activities and clubs that enriched and developed her interests. She pursued coursework in science and the environment, and earned a master’s degree in earth literacy.
Her passion grew as she developed her songwriting and communication skills while living in Nashville. Earth Mama combines her love for Earth, music, and education in her work. She addresses the critical issues facing Earth in an entertaining, easy-to-understand way, utilizing humor and music to motivate others to help heal the planet.
Earth Mama will offer two family friendly performances. The events will be interactive, inviting you to participate in music, laughter, and wisdom. OSF and BVM Social Justice Promoter Nancy Miller shares, “Our Laudato Si’ Committee is excited and delighted to introduce Joyce Rouse and her music to a wider audience. Her music will not only entertain, but also inspire and engage the audience in ways that they can care for ‘Mama Earth.’”
