Marilyn Wilson, BVM, was recently honored with Rosemary Everett, SNJM; Caritas Foster; SHF; and Catarina Chu, DC at the South Bay Coalition to End Human Trafficking Coalition’s Virtual Gala on Feb. 3, as the 2021 Collaboration of the Year award recipients.
The award recognizes efforts that serve as an example of collaboration. The South Bay Coalition expressed their deep appreciation for the consistent, steadfast support the sisters have provided the coalition over the years.
Sharan Dhanoa, Director of Strategic Development, states, “Each of you has shown deep humility and reliability in terms of supporting Coalition events, supporting legislation, assisting with outreach events, providing spiritual support, and funding major gaps in our field. It has not gone unnoticed, and we love to recognize the contribution of each of your orders to anti-trafficking efforts in our region.”
The sisters have worked together over many years on the issue of human trafficking. In addition, BVM congregational grants and individual BVM financial assistance have gone to the South Bay Coalition for its work.
Marilyn shares, “As we get ‘older’ and not so much on the front lines, it is gratifying to know we might have had some impact for good.”
In her acceptance speech, Marilyn expressed gratitude to her sister collaborators, religious women congregation colleagues, and the many others working together to end human trafficking. “Most important of all, I have gratitude to survivors/thrivers who model to me courage, strength, resilience, and hope. My prayer is that we all continue to strive together to put an end to Human Trafficking everywhere.”
