Meet Our Sisters Tour
BVMs Joellen McCarthy, Mary Ellen Meckley, Colleen McGinnity, and Gwen Farry are among the sisters ministering in Chicagoland.
Chicagoland Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will hold a meet and greet Nov. 6 at the Gannon Center at Loyola University Chicago.
Students, alumni, friends, donors, associates, and anyone interested in the BVM mission are welcome to learn how sisters continue to make a difference by helping those most in need.
We are simply inviting them to come and catch up with BVM teachers and ask questions about religious life and the associate program.”—Colleen McGinnity, BVM.
“We are simply inviting them to come and catch up with BVM teachers and ask questions about religious life and the associate program,” said Colleen McGinnity, BVM. “These days in Chicago BVMs are involved in the ministries of many of the other congregations,” by teaching English as a second language, helping with food pantries, assisting youth, and other activities.
The event is 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Piper Hall, which houses the Gannon Center for Women and Leadership. The center was formed to keep the legacy of Mundelein College alive and named after BVM Ann Ida Gannon, former president. Loyola University is at 1032 W. Sheridan Road in Chicago.
The Meet Our Sisters Tour is in conjunction with National Vocation Awareness Week to raise awareness of the vast presence of Catholic sisters in Chicagoland. Eight other congregations will hold meet and greets during the week.
