Sister Linda (Frances Joan) Quinones, BVM

Sister Linda (Frances Joan) Quinones, BVM, 83, of Mount Carmel Bluffs, 1160 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.

Visitation of cremated remains will be from 1-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, in the Mary Frances Clarke Chapel at Mount Carmel Buffs. Sharing of Memories will be at 1:30 p.m. followed immediately by the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial is in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Linda served as a school secretary, school resource person, and parish minister in Seattle; school secretary and librarian in San Fransisco; and bookkeeper/office manager in Fremont and Union City, Calif. She also worked as a housekeeper in Clinton, Iowa, and Los Gatos, Calif., and volunteered at a senior center, a hospice, and at her parish in Kilauea, Hawaii.

She was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Kauai, Hawaii, to Frank and Haruko (Oshima) Quinones. She entered the BVM congregation on July 31, 1960, from St. Catherine Parish, Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii. She professed first vows on Feb. 2, 1963, and final vows on Feb. 2, 1968.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Frank (Flo), James, and Mitchell (Charlene) Quinones; sister Irene (Arnold) Ujimori; and brothers-in-law Peter Ng and Manuel Ang. She is survived by sisters Doris Ng and Beverly Ang, both of Honolulu, Hawaii; nieces, nephews, and the Sisters of Charity, BVM, with whom she shared life for 64 years.

  1. I was a nurse working with Linda during my time at Mt. Carmel. When I relocated to the west coast, every Christmas I came back and hung out with her in the Motherhouse. Rest in peace sister Linda.
