Tri-State Network Presents: Dr. Erin Lothes, Environmental Advocate

The urgency of transitioning to renewable, peaceful energy sources has never been more pressing. To address this, the Sisters of Charity, BVM and the Tri-State Network will host Dr. Erin Lothes, a distinguished Catholic theologian and environmental advocate, as she leads a discussion on this topic through a virtual program and in-person gatherings.

Dr. Lothes, a senior manager of the Laudato Si’ Animators Program and the author of influential works like Inspired Sustainability: Planting  Seeds for Action and The Paradox of Christian Sacrifice: The Loss of Self The Gift of Self, will delve into the concept of energy justice. She will provide a theological framework for caring for our common Earth home, incorporating insights from Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si.’

The program is organized by the Tri-State Network—a coalition of congregations from Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin dedicated to peace,  justice, and spirituality. The in-person viewing and discussion opportunities are at:

• Benet House Retreat Center (Rock Island, Ill.).
• Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center (Hiawatha, Iowa).

Participants will gain practical tools for engaging their communities in advocating for and implementing renewable energy solutions.
